Meet Jeo
Jeo is a Black queer non-binary Somatic Care Worker and ISSA-Health Coach Institute certified Empowered Wellbeing Coach supporting individuals and communities in body-based healing through holistic care and restorative transformation. Jeo was born and raised in Charleston, SC and their Gullah Geechee roots in the South Carolina Lowcountry fuels their commitment to ancestral wisdom and culturally intuitive practices. As a student of practice, Jeo is informed by their growing personal practices, such as: strength and mobility training, meditation, tarot, and parts work (Internal Family Systems).
In their formal studies, Jeo earned both a Bachelors (2015) and Masters (2017) degree in Social Work from Winthrop University where they were able to develop their therapeutic and group facilitation skills. Post-schooling, they’ve gone on to work in the non-profit sector for nearly a decade as a behavioral interventionist, a Program Coordinator and Director, and an Executive Director with an emphasis on community organizing and social justice centered organizations.
“Practice isn’t something that I am doing to prepare— it’s not training. It is not doing a thing so that I become a certain kind of way... My morning practices are actually my life and from that, I make offerings. Because I have that, I can offer from that place. So practice is ‘what is your center?’ What is something you do repeatedly again, and again, and again because it is life giving? And from that life-giving, what can you offer?”
What does it mean to be a somatic care worker?
I believe that our bodies are a direct reflection of this truth as they are constantly changing along with us as we move through life reminding us of our connection to the divine. As a somatic care worker and coach, my goal is to walk alongside people as they navigate life transitions and discover their life’s purpose. I encourage them to embrace change as an opportunity for profound transformation, healing, and rebirth by supporting them in accessing their own bodily wisdom, divinity and truth. And in doing so, I am forever changed and in deeper alignment with my own life path and purpose. I call myself a care worker rather than a practitioner, healer, or guide because at the center of my practice is a philosophy of mutual exchange, support, and labor.

What brings me to these practices?
I stumbled upon professional coaching in 2023—my job paid for it. One day my coach asked me “what makes your heart sing?” And at the time, I couldn’t answer the question. I didn’t know what it meant to live a joyful and purposeful life outside of shame and obligation. This prompted a journey of exploring joy. Simultaneously, I was discovering a new relationship with my body through lifting weights and medically and socially transitioning as a trans masculine person. As it felt safe to actually be in and connected to my body for the first time in my life, I started reading and learning about nervous system regulation and boundaries. I was enthusiastic about integrating what I was learning, but it seemed that the more I did, the more my life was falling apart the things that were no longer aligned with me began falling away, no matter how much I desperately tried to hold on to them. This led to a complete overhaul of everything I thought I knew about myself, followed by overwhelming grief. But it was through the heartbreak that I was cracked wide open and my capacity for love—self love was revealed. I finally understood what it meant to love unconditionally. Thus began my commitment to healing. It was in the depths of my grief that I could return home to Self.
So I come to this work, with the hope of creating space for others to also do the purposeful, delicious, and necessary work of coming back home to themselves and their bodies. It is my hope that together we can create a world where each of us is able to access and fully embody our wholeness as our divine right.
What values inform my practice?

The body can perceive what the mind cannot yet understand. Together, let’s be curious about what it might be showing us.
“The body is very truthful. Your mind can deceive you and put all kinds of barriers between you and your nature; but your body does not lie. Your body tells you, if you attend to it, how your life is and whether you are living from your soul. The body also has a wonderful intelligence. All of our movements, indeed everything we do, demands the most refined and detailed cooperation of each of our senses. The human body is the most complex, refined, and harmonious totality.”

As a collective body we need each other to heal. As we tend to our individual healing we raise collective consciousness. Like a mycelium network we are tuned into and impacted by each others nervous systems. Our healing and liberation are inextricably linked to one another’s.
